Happy Friday y’all! Every week on Friday I am sharing my top five favorites whatever! You will see favorite restaurants, date night spots, articles, Instagram accounts, places we have traveled and more! Last weekend, Pierce wanted to have cinnamon rolls for breakfast, so it got me thinking about how much our family loves our big breakfasts on the weekends! I know I look forward to Saturday morning and creating a feast for my family. So this week, I want to share my five favorite breakfast recipes!
I’m still amazed by how many people buy pancake mix in a box! Pancakes are one of the easiest things to make and take no time at all. It’s also one of my favorite recipes to get the kids involved in as they can easily measure and mix the ingredients to make these themselves. But these pancakes always come out light, fluffy and perfect every time! We even add blueberries, chocolate chips, or sprinkles to them too! Having a brunch? I love to make mini ones and add lemon curd with a mint leaf on top a stack of three. They also freeze great to make small packs to heat up for a quick breakfast or the boys even have them for lunch every once in a while.
Okay, we are southerners, so we love biscuits! I almost died when on my I am a Triangle group someone said that biscuits and gravy were the most disgusting thing they have ever heard about. Bless their little heart, I beg to differ, and these biscuits are perfect for just that. These are easy to make and make perfect biscuits every time. My family uses them for biscuits and gravy, build an egg sandwich, or just put some good ol’ jam on there. They are great for any breakfast!
Thanks to their mom (me), my kids love Starbucks! I know….I created animals by taking them there but every once in a while to have a little date together is nice. But in Jakarta, it’s reasonable to take them to Starbucks, and it’s a great place to catch a bite at the airport. Starbucks in Indonesia has a wonderful cheese quiche, and the kids were hooked! So quiche has become a family favorite in our house. Cheese quiche, ham and cheese, and for Aaron, Dominic and I, we like quiche with mushrooms and other veggies. Since I don’t have a full-size oven and only a toaster oven, I make these individual sizes just like Starbucks. These are super easy, great to freeze for breakfast, and it’s another one the kids ask for lunch!
I love cooking with pumpkin! It doesn’t have a super strong flavor, but it makes everything so moist and yummy! I mean, who doesn’t want to have a taste from Thanksgiving year round? I found this recipe when looking for snacks I could make for the kids to take to school. These muffins hit the spot! They are super moist, and the chocolate adds just the right amount of sweet. They are great to have for brunch or an after school snack!
Saturday mornings don’t get much better than having some hot, gooey, cinnamon rolls! My only problem is most recipes take hours to make! Saturday mornings are my time to sleep in, so if I want to spend hours on breakfast, it is usually a special occasion. But I found this amazing recipe where it only takes 45 minutes! They still came out soft and gooey and were gone in minutes!
If you are from the south, you know what a Kolache is, if not, bless your heart. Now, this term has its arguments. Kolaches came from Kolach which is a Czech pastry that holds a dollop of fruit. These are a dessert. But in Texas, Kolaches are the Czech Klobasnek which is a pastry filled with meat. The most popular in Texas are sausage. Our personal favorite is jalapeno cheese, but you can fill them with almost any type of meat. They are really good with ham and cheese too! When we moved to Jakarta, we never saw anything close to a kolache, so I found this recipe and they turned out amazing! The dough was super easy to make and didn’t take long to make. We have these for breakfast, lunch, or after school snacks. They are perfect taste from home.
Hope you enjoyed some of our favorite recipes! Would love to hear some of your family favorite recipes too!
