Quick Trip to Kuala Lumpur

I am so excited! We have to make one final visa run before we move back to the states which mean we are taking our final weekend, okay extended weekend, getaway! This trip we are going to spend a few days in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Siem Reap, Cambodia, and Phuket Thailand. This isn’t our first time to Kuala Lumpur. KL is one of my favorite places we have visited. We only spent two and a half days in KL, but we got to roam the city and see some great places too. So here are a couple of places we went to during our last visit.

Last time we were in KL, we were there for our annual Christmas vacation. We spent four days there, and we loved every minute. Our first stop was the Petronas Towers. I think I wanted to visit the Petronas Towers ever since the first time I watched Entrapment! The funny thing is, the towers had just opened when they shot this film, so it was one of the first times the world got to see them.

It is a tradition in our family that every time we go to a big city we go to the top of the tallest building there. But I never expected how much I would fall in love with this building. Petronas Towers are the most amazing and beautiful buildings I have ever seen! Petronas was the tallest building in the world from 1998 to 2004 but remains the tallest twin towers in the world. If you are in KL, this is a must see!

You can’t visit KL without going to see a temple. Temples are not my kiddos favorite thing to do, but we know it’s important for them to get a little bit of a history lesson too. So we went to Thean Hou Temple. What we loved about this temple was all the many parts and levels of it.  They have small gardens around the temple that are great to roam. Here is Thean Hou, you can catch great views of the city, and you may even see a wedding or two as we did!

On our final day in KL, we let the kids have a little fun, so we took them to Sunway Lagoon. Sunway Lagoon is a HUGE water and amusement park. A Little story about our visit. When we first came inside the park, there was a haunted house that my oldest son Dominic wanted to go in. They were smart that they get the group to gather in a front room before going in and have some zombies jump out and scare you. Well, Jordan and Pierce thought they were ready to go in till that happened. They jetted out the door faster than I had ever seen.  But the waterpark is loads of fun and Dominic got to test his surfing skills too!

Kuala Lumpur is a great city. We didn’t get to spend enough time there, so I’m glad we are going back for a couple of days. But we enjoyed walking around, visiting local parks, and just enjoying our time together. Can’t wait to share with you what we do next time in KL.
