Setting My May Intentions

April was a busy month for us! The first week we were just getting back from vacation in India, then I turned around in less than 36 hours and left to Brisbane for a week and a half of work, was home that week and had the golf tournament, then last week I was in bed all week with the flu. So yeah, busy is a little bit of an understatement. But one of the things that were the hardest was that I got off track for a lot of things. So I figured what’s better than starting off the month with a new set of intentional things.

You’re probably wondering what I mean by being intentional. When you do something intentionally, you have a plan, and that’s what I want to lay out today, my plan for the month of May. It has been really important for me to do this because I felt a little out of control not being on track last month for personal reasons and work. Yup…it’s my type-A personality of structure and organization that’s coming out. So here are my intentions for the month.

Walk 7,000 Steps a Day

It seems anyone should be able to walk 7,000 steps a day easily. And yes, most people focus on 10,000 steps a day, but I read that you just need to between 7,000 and 10,000 to be considered moderately active, 10,000 is just easier to remember. The real reason I want to do this is cause I know I need to get moving during the day and take breaks from work! I know, should be easy but it’s not. Working from home is a blessing, but when I spend 3 ½ hours out of my day to pick up my kids from school, I’m trying to cram all my work into the day. Plus you have to start somewhere right? Attitude of Gratitude

A few days ago I wrote the article A Dose of Daily Happiness where I talked about looking for the small things in life that make us happy. I want to work harder on having a positive attitude and looking at the brighter side of things. So for the next 31 days, I’m going to list out my daily gratitude, maybe even throw in a few pictures too. You can find my list here.

Bullet Journal Work Every Day

About a year ago I finally found the best method for me to keep track of everything I needed to do with work. It took me about two years to find what was the most effective for me. I tried electronic calendars and lists, different types of planners, and who knows what else before I found bullet journaling. It has proven to be the most effective thing for me to stay on track and visually see what I have completed or need to do. Talking to my Parents Once a Week

I’m sure you are reading this and saying, “do you not talk to your parents anymore?” The answer is no, I usually talk with my parents every Saturday morning my time, which is Friday night their time but we haven’t done that in a few weeks now. From February to beginning of April the boys played on their school soccer team which mean we had soccer games every Saturday. Their games were always in the morning meaning we wouldn’t get home until almost noon which is midnight back at home. The time difference, especially since daylight savings is a killer! We are 12 hours apart.  Well, we haven’t had soccer games on a Saturday in a few weeks, and I haven’t been diligent about calling them on Saturday mornings again.

Wrapping Up Our House in Jakarta

If you are following me on this journey, you have probably seen that we are moving back to Houston from Jakarta at the end of June. I already know June is going to be a crazy month with the kids ending school, Aaron wrapping up everything he needs to for work, and we are going to go to Bali one last time to see my friend Francis and her son. So my goal is to have everything we can sell by the end of May. Selling everything does make us run into some difficulties (particularly in the cooking area), but I don’t want to wait until June to get it done!

Do One thing from My Bucket List

So I was talking a look at my bucket list, and I was thinking well, I’m never going to knock any of this out if I just don’t start doing them. So I want to complete one of these tasks. It’s going to be hard and going to be tricky which one I can do, but I’m pretty confident that I can get at least one done!

Have Lunch or See my Girlfriends Once a Week

Not only are we leaving Jakarta, but two of my girlfriends are also leaving Jakarta too. I have been so blessed with amazing girlfriends here, and I’m extremely sad we won’t be living close to each other anymore. The good news is, we fully intend on having a girls trip! But while I can, I want to see them, preferably have lunch with them once a week

Tell My Husband and Kids I Love Them Every Day

It’s so easy to get caught up in everyday life. We are all busy and tired, or whatever else is going on in our lives. But I think right now, more than ever for our family, everyone needs to know how much they are loved. The next few months, probably even the next year, are going to be incredibly stressful as there will be loads of changes for us. So I just want to make sure that my family knows how much I love them.
